Virginia Wagner Educational Grant

The Midwestern Region's own Virginia Wagner Educational Grant honors the effort
and scholarship of a women attending a college or university to earn a
baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree.

This educational Grant was established in 1972. In 2004 the award was named
in honor of Dr. Virginia M. Wagner (Midwestern Region Governor 1982-1984)
to commemorate her interest in higher education for women.

It honors and grants a regional monetary award to a women attending a college or
university and who is working toward a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree in
her chosen field. Emphasis is put on scholarship and effort toward education.

Violet Richardson Award

"It's what you do that counts" was the motto of Violet Richardson, President of the first Soroptimist Club.

The Violet Richardson Award recognizes and honors young women between the ages of
14 and 17 who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts
such as: fighting durgs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and
working to end discrimination and poverty. Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls
are of particular interest.

This award is administered by local, participating Soroptimist clubs and is not available
in all communities. Soroptimist headquarters and regions do not distribute or
accept applications. Contact your local Soroptimist club or email the Region Chairperson
for more infomation.

Women's Opportunity Award

The Women’s Opportunity Awards program is Soroptimist’s major service project.
These cash awards are given to women who are financially responsible for their families
and who need to further their education, skills and/or training in order to imporve their employment status.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need and cannot have already earned an undergraduate degree.
